Panorama: Let’s keep words to a minimum

By Axegrinder axeblog

Some BBC types at Television Centre are becoming increasingly frustrated at the dumbing down of some programmes ‒ in particular flagship Panorama.

One journalist has complained to Axegrinder: “It is now targeted at an audience incapable of maintaining an attention span of more than half an hour.”

My man adds that this week’s programme (Monday 10 September) about African boat people had to be edited down because interviewees were deemed to speak in “funny voices” and the higher-ups decided viewers wouldn’t want to read too many subtitles.

Depressing stuff, I say. Standards should certainly be kept up!
