Businesses in the north of England have been given a new ideas sharing forum as The Yorkshire Post launched its Business Club in Leeds this week.
Open to all companies shortlisted in the last five years of the Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards, the Business Club will hold about four events a year.
Yorkshire Post editor Peter Charlton opened the inaugural event explaining: ‘We can all learn from those who have demonstrated excellence, no matter the field in which they operate.’
Chris Rea, managing director of manufacturers AESSEAL, described how he turned the small Rotherham business into one that now boasts a turnover of £100m. He was followed by Richard Tufft, a partner at Goldman Sachs, who said that far from being a hindrance to the UK economy the North should play ‘a key part” in the recovery.
