Western Morning News and Western Daily Press unveil Times-style new looks

By Dominic wireposts

Two of the UK’s biggest regional newspaper brands – the Western Morning News and Western Daily Press – will have radical new looks from Monday.

The changes at the Northcliffe titles follow the introduction of a new content management system and the pooling of editorial resources which will see up to 11 editorial production jobs axed.

While the Western Morning News is mainly distributed in Devon and Cornwall the Western Daily Press mainly covers Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Somerset.

The new looks will see both titles produced on the same design templates in a move designed to streamline the production process.

Press Gazette understands that they will also share much features content – such as in the themed business and farming sections – but that news content will still largely be unique to each title.

Holdthefrontpage has had a sneak preview of the new look papers, to be unveiled on Monday, which shows a design which is sharp, clear and quite similar to The Times.
