After 123 years as a broadsheet the weekly Brighouse Echo is being relaunched as a tabloid newspaper.
The paid-for Echo published its first tabloid issue last week increasing pagination to more than 56 pages.
The new-look West Yorkshire paper also saw the addition of some small design changes, including minor changes to the Johnston Press title’s masthead.
Stephen Firth, editor, writing about the changes on the paper’s website, said: ‘The easier-to handle tabloid size has proved a big hit with readers in trials.
‘Brighter, more attractive, easier to find things … just some of the reaction from readers who took part in our research.
‘The first issue, expected to top 56 pages, includes a number of new features which we feel sure you will enjoy. There are some great special offers, too, making your Echo even better value.
‘We believe that size really does matter and the compact, tabloid title is what our readers want.”
