US publisher consolidates newspapers in $5.6m deal

By Patrick

One of America’s biggest regional newspaper publishers has signed a deal to “consolidate” its newspapers into one editorial system.

Hearst newspapers, owners of the Houston Chronicle, Texas, and the Albany Times-Union in New York, will pay around $5.6 million to Digital Technology International, based in Utah and work will begin early next year. The company’s reporters will be able to access editorial systems via the internet remotely.
