Sun mystery solved by Guardian journalist

By owenamos

Strange lights in the sky, reported on The Sun’s front page this morning, may have been explained by a Guardian journalist’s 80-year-old father.

The Sun splashed – with the headline ‘UFO hits wind turbine’- on a broken wind turbine in Lincolnshire.

It speculated the damage may have been caused by extra-terrestrials – and quoted locals who saw ‘strange lights’and ‘massive balls of light with tentacles going right down to the ground”.

However, it turns out those strange lights came from the family home of Emily Bell, the Guardian News and Media director of digital content.

On the same night, the family had a fireworks display to mark the 80th birthday of Peter Bell, Emily’s father.

“It was a medium-sized fireworks display with absolutely no ballistics, and the fireworks were mostly dropping over my parents’ house,’said Emily.

The missing blade, though, is yet to be explained.
