Journalists at the Morning Star plan to strike later this month if they fail to resolve an ongoing pay dispute with management.
Union members are demanding that management, the People’s Press Printing Society, agrees to provide an additional £1,000 a year to salaries and some form of compensation for working anti-social hours .
More than 20 members of the National Union of journalists plan to walkout from Sunday, 27 June.
Press Gazette understands that management at the left-wing newspaper will give its answer to the journalists by 24 June.

A spokesman for the NUJ said: ‘Previous negotiations have gone right down to the wire, and we’re hopeful that will be the case this time around.
‘There is potential action contingent on the outcome of these negotiations but at this stage it would be premature to say they will be definite strikes taking place.”
Bill Benfield, editor of the Morning Star, declined to comment.
A proposed strike over an earlier pay dispute at the Morning Star was narrowly averted in March last year when staff were awarded a £19,000 minimum salary.
