A memorial service will be held for former News of the World sports editor Bill Bateson at St Bride’s Church, Fleet Street, on Tuesday 16 February at 11.30am.
Bill worked for 14 editors during a 34-year stint with the newspaper. He joined in 1960 and filled a range of roles from sports sub-editor to sports editor and assistant editor (sport).
He died in September at his home in Cornwall after a short illness aged 73.
