Michael Jermey, director of news, current affairs and sport at ITV, has been appointed chairman of The Rory Peck Trust.
He takes over from Adrian Wells, who has moved to the Middle East to launch Sky News Arabia.
Jermey is a former editor of News at Ten and managing director of ITN International.
As ITN’s head of foreign news, Jermey led the organisation’s international newsgathering during the 1990’s, including its award-winning coverage of world events such as the war in Bosnia and the Rwandan genocide.
The Rory Peck Trust is an organisation established to support freelance cameramen and camerawomen working in international news and current affairs.
