Reuters more than doubles size of journalism training programme to provide 15 places

By Dominic wireposts

Reuters has announced that it is expanding its London-based training programme and that it is taking on 15 graduate trainees this year.

Reuters is the new and media division of Thomson Reuters.

It said:

University graduates, working journalists and other professionals wanting to move into journalism can apply for the highly competitive program that involves hands-on training in the classroom and on the newsroom floor. Trainees who meet Reuters rigorous standards will be placed in staff jobs and assigned mentors to guide their careers at the company.

Editor-in-chief Stephen Adler said:

We are reinvesting in journalism through this highly competitive training program and, at the same time, strengthening our position as an industry leader. While other news organisations have discontinued similar efforts, Reuters has more than doubled the size of its program.

More details about how to apply for the scheme can be found here. The closing date is 31 December.
