A reporter working for York’s The Press newspaper beat a ban imposed on him by Luton Town Football Club by reporting on the club’s game against his local team on Tuesday night, according to a report.
David Flett had been refused a press pass for the clash between Luton and York City after he had previously penned a critical article which the Bedfordshire club deemed “inflammatory”.
Flett had claimed Luton could have done more to call off a snow affected game earlier, before York fans had started journeying south.
The York Press reported that despite the ban Flett managed to report Tuesday’s game by buying a ticket and sitting in the stand with fans at Luton’s Kenilworth Road ground.
Flett told his paper:
“I was very disappointed to be declined admission into the press box at Kenilworth Road.
I stand by the sentiment in my article on the original game and still believe, considering the severe weather warnings in place, more could and should have been done by Luton Town and the referee to consider an early postponement.”
