Report: Johnston Press to warn of ‘volatile’ advertising revenue

By admin

Newspaper publisher Johnston Press is expected to warn advertisers this week that ‘advertising revenue is likely to be volatile for the rest of the year”.

The claim was made in an article published on thisismoney.co.uk, which is owned by rival publishing group the Daily Mail and General Trust.

According to the story, Johnston chief executive Ashley Highfield is expected to update investors at its annual meeting on Wednesday.

Earlier this year the company announced plans to relaunch 170 of its newspapers, and to convert five of its dailies into weekly papers.

Thisismoney.co.uk reported:

Shareholders will be keen to learn if digital revenues are still rising at 13.9 per cent a year.

Investors will also be looking for an update on Johnston’s recent figures that showed advertising in the first 18 weeks of the year was down 9.1 per cent on the same period in 2011.
