A company based in East Midlands is looking for a senior sub editor (£25-28K) to work on various publications. As well as running the subs department, you will need the ability to work fast and accurately. Apart from proofreading, you will also write headlines and magazine style picture captions when required.

A managing editor (£50-75K) is required to work for a consumer publishing company covering a range of subjects. You will be responsible for the portfolio of titles, and manage the entire publishing process. This role would suit a senior editor, managing editor or publisher, or even a successful editor who is looking to take their next step up. Job location: London.

A healthcare title is looking for a sub-editor (£21-24K). You will be working across a range of publications, sub-editing copy and using InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator to correct and layout. You will also speak to authors directly, and arrange some articles. You must either be working within the healthcare or medical sector, or have a proven background within life sciences from a BSc or equivalent qualification. Job location: London.

An international communications company is hiring a medical writer (£40-50K). You will provide writing, editing and proofreading services to account teams. You will also undertake research in the therapy area and liaise with clients. You should have good writing/editing/proof-reading skills. Job location: South East – Oxfordshire.

Laboratory News is looking for a staff writer. You will engage readers from a broad range of scientific backgrounds. As well as generating news and features, you will also be responsible for sub-editing the work of others. You should be a science graduate with knowledge of all aspects of science. Experience of writing for a publication would be an advantage. Job location: Croydon. Closing date: 12 October.

Bury Free Press is hiring a senior reporter. You must be a forward thinking, well-organised team player with excellent attention to detail. You must also have the ability to quickly turn around everything from front page splashes to down page nibs, as well as knowing when and how to use on-line and multimedia skills to get the most from a story. Cabinet Maker magazine, a weekly interiors retailing magazine, is hiring a features editor with NCTJ training to join its team. Able to spot a good story, you will be producing features for the magazine and subbing news pages. You should have three-five years’ experience on a magazine/daily/weekly newspaper and knowledge of InDesign. Experience writing for the interiors furnishing market would be an advantage.
