Peter Kirwan: Regional newspaper group Northcliffe has cut 4,000 jobs since 2005

Press Gazette columnist Peter Kirwan has been running his slide rule over Northcliffe’s financial figures from the last five years and the results are quite scary.

He reckons that around 4,000 jobs have been cut at the regional media publisher over the last six years, giving us the current total of just under 4,000 employees.

And he believes the current market price for Northcliffe is about one fifteenth of what it would have been five years ago when Lord Rothermere put the business up for sale. Read more on his new blog here.
