It was today announced that Peter Hitchens has won the 2010 Orwell Journalism Prize for his foreign correspondence for the Mail on Sunday.
Hitchens’ winning selection of articles included reports from Prague, South Africa, Tokyo, Ottawa and China, as well as a piece asking ‘What if the Berlin Wall didn’t fall?’

Hitchens’ award was unveiled at a ceremony in London last night, where pseudonymous social worker “Winston Smith” collected the Orwell Blog Prize for ‘Working with the Underclass’.
Named after the central character of Orwell’s novel 1984, the blog relates the experiences of Winston, a care home worker.
Orwell Prize winners received £3000 and were presented with a plaque bearing Orwell’s ambition: “What I have most wanted to do… is to make political writing into an art.”
