PCC climate ruling ‘not a victory for self-regulation’

By paulmcnally

The climate change pressure group that complained over an inaccurate front-page story in the London Evening Standard has described the PCC’s ruling in the group’s favour as “a victory of sorts, but not for self-regulation”.

The Camp for Climate Action complained to the watchdog about a story last August claiming “militants will hit Heathrow”. The PCC ruled the story was a “serious breach” of the code of practice.

Writing in today’s Guardian, one of the group’s activists, Simon Evans, claims: “The Standard published no apology, refused to print our letter, and waited 10 days to bury the PCC ruling inside the paper.”
