The Online Media Awards are open for entries with a closing date of March 23.
The awards recognise online talent from around the world. Last years’ winners included The Sunday Times which picked up six awards as well the Press Gazette which picked up a special award from chairman of judges.
Press Gazette editor Dominic Ponsford also received a judges’ commendation in the online editor of the year category. Other winners included The Guardian, the BBC and the Nursing Times.
Online Media Awards director Lynn Lester said:
In our ever changing media landscape, media owners have had to adapt very quickly to the ways in which they disseminate editorial content to their audiences. The constant hard work that goes on behind the scenes are often taken for granted and that is why these awards are important – to give teams and individuals the credit they so richly deserve. Our judges are looking to award those sites that are the most thought provoking, engaging and well written from across the world. You don’t need to be big to win; you just have to be the best.
There is a new category for 2012 which is best local or regional news site. Other categories include best site for news-led journalism, best specialist site for journalism, best use of social media, online editor of the year and digital writer of the year.
The awards are open to media owners, online publishers and editors. More details on the awards themselves and entry can be found on the Online Media Awards website.
