Official: The Sun helps government defeat terrorism

By Dominic wireposts

Counter terrorism minister Lord Alan West has praised The Sun for encouraging Muslims to report suspected terrorists to the authorities.

The Sun reports today that 17 per cent of UK Muslims read The Sun – more than any other UK newspaper.

Lord West told Sun chief reporter John Kay:

“Extremists are now being given away by the Muslim community, many of whom read The Sun.

‘There was one case to do with flying – we can’t say too much about it for security and legal reasons.

‘But people were concerned about what they had seen at a little flying club and contacted the police, which is something we’ve been encouraging them to do through The Sun.

‘There have been a number of cases like this where vigilance has paid off.”
