Northcliffe Media has confirmed the sale of five newspapers in Staffordshire to regional publishing rival Iliffe News and Media for a reported figure of more than £1m.
Northcliffe’s Leek Post & Times Business has been sold to Iliffe subsidiary Staffordshire Newspapers. The group includes the Leek Post & Times, Uttoxeter Post & Times, Moorlands Advertiser and South Cheshire Advertiser,
In a statement the company said: ‘The sale is subject to the appropriate legal consultation with the employees of the Post & Times under the TUPE regulations.
‘This sale gives us a greater opportunity to concentrate on developing our Stoke portfolio.”
It is not known if any editorial jobs will be lost as a result of the sale. Iliffe Media was unavailable for comment.
