The Times has declined to comment to Press Gazette on reports today suggesting that around 50 editorial redundancies and an imminent redesign could take place at the News International title.
The Independent claimed today in a diary story that the Times was ‘bracing’itself for a round of cuts.
If it proves to be true it would mark the biggest clear out of staff from The Times since it set a target of 31 voluntary redundancies, in July, 2007.
The Indy’s report following claims, from the Guardian last week, that The Times would soon axe its Times2 supplement – possibly as early as the first week in March.
That Guardian report also suggested that move to dump Times2 could come with a possible jobs cull, but sources told the paper last week that the cull was ‘uncertain, with no decision taken yet”.
