By paulmcnally

The UK’s second biggest regional newspaper publisher, Newsquest, attracted 4.8 million monthly unique users to its network of more than 180 websites in 2007, according to parent company Gannett.

In its end-of-year results, Gannett said Newsquest’s sites – which include Lancashiretelegraph.co.uk and Glasgow’s Eveningtimes.co.uk – recorded 62 million page impressions in an average month.

May 2007 ABCe figures showed the Newsquest portfolio had 4.5 million unique users and 49.1 million page impressions that month. Those figures represented 27 per cent year-on-year growth in unique users and 57 per cent growth in page impressions relative to May 2006 ABCe figures.

Advertising revenue fell 6.5 per cent year-on-year across Newsquest’s portfolio of more than 300 regional and local newspapers.
