News website banned by Google may have tips for Rupert

Some advice for Rupert Murdoch on what to do if Google stops indexing your websites from the owners of OnePageNews.

Those behind OnePageNews say they don’t know why it was dropped by Google. But it may well be that the web search giant saw their news aggregation service as a rival to Google News.

The results of being shunned by Google were cataclysmic for the fledgling site, which saw its traffic drop from 18,000 visits a day to around 700, the Telegraph reports.

There are some tips in today’s Telegraph from the company’s PR director Neil Boom on what to do if this happens to you.

Tips include setting up news alerts and stories-by-email functionality and making registration as simple as possible, also flagging up the extra benefits for readers who register.
