News at Ten missed its own scoop this week when the ITN press office sent out clips to newspapers and other broadcasters of its exclusive interview with Gordon Brown, reports The Guardian.
The revived ITV flagship news programme led with on Brown’s comments about Northern Rock but missed its own scoop when Brown said work and pensions secretary Peter Hain was guilty of “an incompetence”.
Newsnight broke the story as News at Ten ended, and it was picked up by newspapers and the Today programme on Radio 4.
