Former Daily Telegraph editor Martin Newland’s new newspaper, Abu Dhabi based The National, is set to launch within a fortnight, reports The Guardian.
The paper will be printed six days a week and will have an editorial staff of about 200, a number of which are former Telegraph employees.
Former Paris correspondent for the Telegraph, Colin Randall, has taken the role of executive editor, and revealed on his blog: ‘We have written, edited, illustrated and designed the dummy pages. We have stood back and taken satisfaction in the products of our dry runs, trying to forget the frustrations of publishing essentially for internal consumption.”
