The new boss of Al Jazeera English, Tony Burman, has urged staff – and critics – to be patient.
The channel has suffered a string of problems since its launch in 2006, with insiders claiming there is a “terrible clash” of cultures between the western journalists and local staff in Doha.
“I share the frustration of my colleagues that the channel is not being distributed everywhere we think it should be,” Burman said. “But this is a marathon, not a sprint, and it’s one that we feel we’ll eventually win.”
