Murdoch pay drops to $16.8m as Chase Carey is News Corp top earner

News Corp chief executive Rupert Murdoch saw his pay drop 6 per cent to $16.8m last year, AP and others report.

US SEC filings reveal his salary was static at $8.1m but performance related pay fell 20 per cent to $4.4m. He also received new stock and options worth $4.1m, AP reports.

As the controlling shareholder of News Corp, Murdoch’s stake in the company is worth $4.58bn –according to AP.

News Corp president Chase Carey received £23.1m in total pay, according to AP. He gets the same salary as Murdoch but was boosted above him by bonuses.
