Murdoch ‘looking to hire Will Lewis’ to edit… something

By paulmcnally

The Observer and the Sindy both claim that Rupert Murdoch is lining up Telegraph editor-in-chief Will Lewis to work for him.

The Observer media diary suggests he’s being eyed for the editor’s job on the Wall Street Journal, reporting to publisher (and former Times editor) Robert Thomson.

The Sindy’s Feral Beast column, however, claims he’s being lined up as a possible editor of the Sunday Times if Murdoch puts John Witherow in charge of News International.

Last week, Portfolio magazine’s media columnist Jeff Bercovici suggested that Lewis would be “perfect” as a candidate for managing editor at The Wall Street Journal – but Lewis said he had not been approached.
