Murdoch book reveals possible News Corp deadlock for heirs to the empire

By Dominic wireposts

The new Rupert Murdoch biography reveals that a split in the Murdoch clan could lead to deadlock on the board of News Corp after the media magnate’s death.

Michael Wolff’s book reveals that Murdoch’s four eldest children will have equal voting rights at News Corp after his death and that there is, reportedly, no provision yet in place to break a possible two-two split.

The Financial Times reports that Murdoch has said that his two younger children by Wendy Deng could also get voting rights further down the line.

The book also reveals that Murdoch allegedly killed a New York Post story about Conrad Black in exchange for the Telegraph agreeing not to write harshly about James Murdoch’s promotion to become chief executive of BSkyB in 2003 at the age of 31.

This month’s issue of Press Gazette carries a review of the Murdoch book – The Man Who Owns the News, by Michael Wolff – written by former Murdoch lieutenant David Banks.
