Racing legend Michael Schumacher’s family has appealed for privacy and asked the media camped outside a French hospital to allow doctors to continue their work.
Schumacher’s wife Corinna said: “It is important to me that the doctors and the hospital be left in peace to work. Please trust their statements and leave the clinic.”
The BBC reports that she also asked reporters to “please leave our family in peace”.
The ex-Formula 1 champion has been in a medically-induced coma for the past eight days following his horror skiing smash on the French Alps.
He is currently being treated for head injuries in the French city of Grenoble.
His condition is described as critical but stable.
Earlier, it was claimed that a journalist had attempted to talk to Schumacher's doctors while dressed as a priest.
Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm told a press conference: "Apparently a journalist dressed as a priest had tried to gain access to Michael's room. I wouldn't have ever imagined something like this could happen."
However, no journalist or media organisation has been identified as responsible for the alleged incident.
