Martin Dunn to stand down as New York Daily News editor

Martin Dunn, editor of the New York Daily News, is to step down from his post to spend time with his ill wife.

Dunn, a former deputy editor of the Sun and editor of the short-lived Today newspaper, is bringing an end to a seven-year second stint at the helm of the Daily News. He also ran the paper for three years in the 1990s.

The New York Times reported that Dunn made the announcement to staff in a three-paragraph email memo yesterday.

Dunn told the told the New York Post that his wife was suffering from cancer and he needed to step down to “put that priority of dealing with her and the family first”.
