The Daily Mail continues to promote its big January transfer window signing – Martin Samuel, The Times’ former chief sports writer.
On Tuesday, the back page featured a silhouette of Samuel, with the headline ‘The biggest signing of the season, and he joins the Mail next week – find out who he is tomorrow.”
Yesterday’s back page announced his arrival, with that announcement repeated on today’s back page, and inside.
The announcement was originally made in September, with Samuel’s salary reportedly more than £400,000.
The Mail’s current chief sports writer, Paul Hayward – formerly of the Daily Telegraph – is leaving for Guardian News and Media.
