Kate Garraway: Stories about me ‘full of inaccuracies’

By paulmcnally

GMTV presenter Kate Garraway has said that newspaper stories about her in the past have been “so full of inaccuracies” that she has not corrected mistakes about her age.

The former Sky News presenter, who has let people believe she’s a year younger than she really is for the past eight years, has come clean in a piece for the Observer about ageing.

“When I moved from Sky News to GMTV eight years ago, a newspaper journalist checked my age from a cutting and got it wrong by a year,” she says.

“After that, other articles would occasionally make me two, even three, years younger. They were always so full of inaccuracies that my age felt like that last thing worth trying to correct. Gradually, the mistake became a fact.”
