Journalist ‘unlawfully killed’ in Iraq, inquest hears

Richard Wild, a 24-year-old freelance journalist working for ITN was unlawfully killed when he was shot in the back of the head in Iraq in July 2003, an inquest at Oxford coroner’s court heard yesterday.

Wild was killed just two weeks after entering Iraq, where he had been hoping to establish himself as a freelance war correspondent, the Herald reports today.

Wild’s father, Robin, has previously claimed that this son’s death was not properly investigated at the time and that his family had received conflicting information.
