Journalist submits to waterboarding ordeal

By paulmcnally

Journalist Christopher Hitchens has volunteered to undergo the controversial interrogation technique of “waterboarding” to decide for himself whether it amounts to torture.

In an article for Vanity Fair, published this week, Hitchens describes having a hood placed over his head, being stapped to a wooden board and partially drowned.

“Believe me, it’s torture,” he said. “If waterboarding does not constitute torture, then there is no such thing as torture.”
