Jon Gaunt, The Sun columnist and former TalkSport “shock jock,” has criticised FiveLive presenters’ reluctance to relocate when the station moves from London to Salford in 2011.
In his column Gaunt responded to comments made by FiveLive presenter Nicky Campbell in an interview in the Media Guardian this week.
Campbell has become the first high profile name to commit to the move, but said he would not be relocating to Salford permenantly. Instead the presenter plans to commute on a weekly plans
Gaunt criticised Campbell, and his FiveLive colleague Simon Mayo for failing to support the BBC’s efforts to make its broadcasting less “London centric.”
He said: “If Five Dead is moving North to better reflect the country as a whole it is important that its star – and let’s face it Nicky, you know you are THE STAR – should surely have to live there.”
