Johnston Press plans new subbing ‘hub’ in Chesterfield

By Press Gazette

Johnston Press is in talks with staff over plans to create another subbing ‘hub’ to centralise all the sub-editing functions from a single region to one office.

The new centre would be based in Chesterfield, home of the Derbyshire Times, and incorporate sub-editing from Johnston Press titles including the Mansfield Chad series, Hucknall Despatch, Buxton Advertiser, Ilkeston Advertiser, Belper News, Ripley and Heanor News and Matlock  Mercury.

Holdthefrontpage reports that unlike the previous creation of centalised ‘hubs’  (and another story here) the reorganisation in North Derbyshire will not result in any redundancies.

The publisher has already created a series of centralised ‘hubs’ across the Midlands, Lancashire and Northern Ireland from which it can run subbing for its local titles.
