Jeans and T-shirt for ‘warm and friendly’ Five News

By paulmcnally

After Paxman’s pants and the BBC’s North Face anoraks, the latest journalism clothing story comes from Five News, which has reportedly told new recruit Natasha Kaplinsky that she will “regularly appear in jeans and a T-shirt” when she takes over the evening news bulletins next month.

According to the Mail on Sunday, it’s all part of a move by Five News towards making its bulletins “warm and friendly”. Five News senior programme controller Chris Shaw told the paper: “We’ve got a virtual ban on gizmos. People know what a 40in plasma TV looks like, we don’t need to show them.”
