Private Eye editor Ian Hislop is to host the selection meeting to choose Ann Widdecombe’s successor as MP for Maidstone and the Weald.
The Mail on Sunday reports that the Have I got News for You pundit, who lives in the area, had
become “embroiled” in a row over the selection process, which “local Tories” said was in favour of selecting a woman for the job.
