Hachette owner ‘looking to sell international magazine business’

French media company Lagardère said yesterday it was considering selling its international magazine business to focus on domestic titles.

The owner of Elle magazine Рwhich is published in the UK by Lagard̬re subsidiary Hachette Filipacchi Рtold the Wall St Journal it had started talks with rival businesses over a possible sale.

Lagard̬re is reportedly in talks with up to five publishers over the possible sale and is reported to have held presentations to US media giant Hearst Рwhich owns NatMags in the UK Рas well as Bauer Media Group.
