The Guardian has ousted The Times as the sole newspaper on offer in Starbucks coffee shops.
Back in 2004 The Times struck up a deal to go on sale in Starbucks’ then 311 stores nationwide in the UK.
From 5 November, the Starbucks newspaper sale bins will instead be filled with Guardians for a trial period of a year.
Starbucks now has 690 stores in the UK and claims that two million people a week walk through their doors.
The new deal may provide some much-needed pep for Guardian sales – which were down 6.5 per cent to 332,587 in September.
