Times restaurant critic, Giles Coren, has sent a colourful letter of complaint to the subs at the Times after they removed a single word from his review.
Published on Media Guardian, the letter explained that Coren was upset that his original ending of a review:
“I can’t think of a nicer place to sit this spring over a glass of rosé and watch the boys and girls in the street outside smiling gaily to each other, and wondering where to go for a nosh.”
Appeared as: “I can’t think of a nicer place to sit this spring over a glass of rosé and watch the boys and girls in the street outside smiling gaily to each other, and wondering where to go for nosh.”

Coren said: “There is no length issue. This is someone thinking “I’ll just remove this indefinite article because Coren is an illiterate c*nt and i know best”.”
After explaining exactly why the removal of “a” before nosh made a huge difference to his piece, Coren then said he insisted that proofs in PDF format be sent to him before publication.
