Five people have been arrested in connection to the murder of Sunday World journalist Martin O’Hagan in Lurgan in 2001, reports the BBC.
The arrests, four men and one woman, took place on Tuesday (08/09) in Lurgan and a number of searches were also carried out.
O’Hagan, who was shot dead in September 2001 as he walked home with his wife from a pub in Lurgan, had written a number of articles exposing terrorist and drug dealing activities in the area.
Colleagues of O’Hagan at the Sunday World have been fighting for justice since the murder.
Jim McDowell, the Sunday World’s Northern Ireland editor, told Press Gazette in April this year that they were ‘doing everything we have to do to track down Martin’s killers”, including working with the Police Service of Northern Ireland and paramilitary groups.
