Fife Free Press claims scoop about Gordon Brown continuing as MP

By admin

The Fife Free Press grabbed the first interview with Gordon Brown following his resignation as Prime Minister.

The interview revealed a telling scoop as Brown revealed to his local paper that he intended to continue in his role as MP for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath despite earlier speculation that he would also stand-down from this post.

Brown was returned as an MP with a 23,000 majority at last Thursday’s general election.

After returning to his Fife home on Tuesday evening with wife Sarah and sons John and Fraser, Brown told the Free Press: “I’m going to be working hard in my job as MP for the people of Kirkcaldy and spending more time on local issues.

“I was humbled by the support (from voters] last Thursday and the majority they gave me. I thank them for that support.

“People were so good to me last week and to have that support was fantastic.”

Brown’s election agent Alex Rowley then told the Fife Free Press there was “never any question” he would continue as the constituency’s MP.
