Eye blames sacking of revise subs for Spectator errors

By Dominic wireposts

This week’s Private Eye is the latest to comment on recent production cock-ups at the Spectator which resulted in several howlers creeping in to the right-wing current affairs mag.

Among them was a full-page article on Clemency Burton-Hill which appeared on page 14 and also in its entirety on page 16. The Eye points the finger of blame at Spectator chief executive Andrew Neil. It reveals that “until recently” the Spectator had two revise subs – whose job it was to check everything – but which it claims were sacked by the Barclays regime.
