The Exeter Express & Echo has stopped using plastic carrier bags for giving away promotions at events, and will be using recyclable paper bags instead.
The paper’s left-over stock of plastic bags was taken to an Exeter recycling plant yesterday. The paper had pledged to cut its own use of plastic bags as part of a “Green Shoppers” campaign, which aims to cut the use of plastic bags in the city by 25 per cent.
