Monthly film magazine Empire has launched a US iPad edition, making the US its sixth international market.
The Bauer Media title will follow the same blueprint as the UK edition, which launched in 2010, containing a full print edition plus special digital features.
Editorial will be tailored towards a US market to deliver localised content and cater for different release dates.
Bauer hopes that the launch will tap into the growing market for iPad users and build on the 500,000 monthly unique users who reportedly visit the website in the US.
The app launched on 31 May to coincide with Empire’s July 2012 issue and is now available from Apple Newsstand on the App Store.
The first edition for the US market features an exclusive front cover from Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Dark Knight Rises.
Rimi Atwal, publishing director at Bauer Media said: “As an authoritative film brand Empire has long delivered an engaging and unrivalled experience for movie fans, and we are delighted to be bringing a U.S. movie magazine back to the home of movies.”
