Daily Mirror cover price increased to 45p

By paulmcnally

The Daily Mirror has become the latest national newspaper to raise its cover price – up 5p today to 45p.

The price rise puts the Mirror 15p ahead of the Sun (priced 30p) and 25p ahead of the Daily Star (20p).

“We, like the rest of the world, have been affected by the credit crunch,” the Mirror explained in a page two piece today.

“The downturn has led to a dramatic rise in production and distribution costs.

“Happily, there is some good news – the price of your Saturday paper remains the same [at 65p].”

The Sun took out a full-page ad in yesterday’s News of the World criticising its rival’s move.

“While we report on the rising cost of living, others just add to it,” the paper said.
