Call for NCTJ students to enter Awards for Excellence 2011

By Michelle Alexander

The National Council for the Training of Journalists is calling journalism students to enter this year’s Awards for Excellence.

The awards are free to enter and have several categories which include:

News journalism; sports journalism; top scoop/exclusive; feature of the year; image of the year

Two awards will be given for each category. Journalism students on NCTJ-accredited courses can enter the student category and journalists/photographers with less than two years’ employment, either working towards the NCE or who have recently taken it, can enter the trainee category.

The winners of each category will be invited to the Society of Editors’ conference in November 2011 with an opportunity to network with local, regional and national editors.
