Gordon Brown’s new chief of strategy Stephen Carter has been accused of misleading the media while head of ailing cable TV firm NTL.
The Observer said yesterday that Carter, NTL CEO between 2000 and 2001, assured newspapers including The Guardian that his company was performing well, even though it was £8.75m in debt at the time.
