Boris Johnson defends Daily Telegraph column

By Patrick

The London Mayor Boris Johnson has defended his decision to begin writing his Daily Telegraph column again, for which he will earn in the region of £250,000 a year.

In an interview with the Evening Standard last night, the paper which championed his bid for City Hall, Johnson was asking his “work” for the Telegraph.

“In so far as you can call it work. They’re not paying me to work, they’re paying me for output, not input. It doesn’t necessarily take very long. I reckon you can do 500 words in 30 minutes. You ought to be able to do it in less than an hour and a half.

“I think I’m entitled to a weekend aren’t I? Of course I won’t use any of my mayoral time to write it.”
